Wendy Gould GoWonder Questions Tips
Something you can’t leave home without?

I never travel without my phone (obviously), at least two lipsticks (usually MAC Ruby Woo for a night out and TreStique Florence Fig for an everyday look), and a really good moisturizer!

City where you live and where you suggest to go there?

I moved to Phoenix from Indiana about 8 years ago and love it here. For food, everyone needs to try Barrio Café near downtown Phoenix, which feels a bit like a hole in the wall, but is beloved by many and offers some of the best food I’ve ever eaten in my life. I also recommend a hike at any of the preserves. Dreamy Draw is gorgeous, as is North Mountain, South Mountain, the White Tanks, and Camelback.

You are obsessed with … ?

I’m obsessed with trying new things. I love trying new recipes, exploring new corners of the world, eating at new restaurants, and trying my hand at random projects.

Name a female hero you admire?

Honestly, there are so many women out there I could mention, but I’d like to take a moment to just recognize women in general. We should continue lifting each other up, whether that means saying or doing something kind, or purposefully helping to elevate each other professionally and socially when possible. Night in or night out?

Totally depends on my mood because I treasure both! A night in with a good movie or book can be restorative, and a night out with friends usually means you’re going to make lasting memories!

What motivates you?

I’m driven by finding new personal success. I haven’t ever really felt competitive with anyone else but myself, and I think that frees me to focus on my goals and champion others in the process. Also, handwritten “to do” lists keep me hyper organized and on track. I have tried a bajillion different apps, but I always go back to a notebook. Nothing feels as good as crossing off a completed item with an inky pen!

Components of a good day?

For me, every good day starts with a snuggle from my partner, a pot of coffee with coconut creamer, and a good breakfast. From there, in terms of work, I try to a nice combination of writing/editing, and then hands-on stuff that has me more mobile (such as photographing things, managerial tasks, etc.). I also enjoy ending the night with a walk.

Your favorite quote?

I have so many! Two of my favorites: “Eccentricity has always abounded when and where strength of character had abounded.” – John Stuart Mill “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.” – Mark Twain

Your favorite app at the moment?

I love VSCO, which allows you to edit your photos and offers a ton of really beautiful filters. People are always asking me how I edit my Instagram photos, and VSCO is the “secret”!

Describe wallpaper that is on your phone?

I have a picture of Arizona’s Watson Lake at dusk that I took last summer. It’s a very extraterrestrial-looking lake with stones coming out of the ground, and the sunset looks like melted cotton candy in the sky!
